1. What is DSA in Singapore?

Direct School Admission for secondary schools (DSA-Sec) seeks to broaden the recognition of talents and achievements beyond academic grades. P6 students can gain direct entry to certain secondary schools based on their talent in sports, CCAs and specific academic areas, etc, before taking the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).

If your child is admitted to a secondary school through DSA-Sec, they are not allowed to:

  • Submit school choices during the Secondary 1 (S1) posting process.
  • Transfer to another school. They must commit to their chosen school for the duration of the programme.

However, the DSA-Sec is not a pathway that suits every student. To determine if DSA-Sec is an appropriate pathway for your child, you should carefully consider your child's strengths and interests, and the school's programmes and their ability to develop specific talent.

Explore the list of schools and programmes for DSA-Sec using MOE SchoolFinder.

2. How to qualify for DSA Singapore?

To qualify for DSA, students need to demonstrate excellence and potential in areas such as sports, arts, music, leadership, or other specialized domains recognized by participating schools.

  • Languages and humanities
  • Uniformed groups

  • Represented the school in a CCA.
  • Held a role in a play or performance.
  • Done well in a subject such as mathematics or creative writing.

Applicants who do not have prior experience may also apply. The school will assess applicants based on the selection criteria, which may include assessing the potential of the applicants.
